How It Works

Five steps from idea to finished Short — most of it runs automatically in the background

01

Pick a Topic

Dashboard auto-fetches today's top AI topics from HackerNews, Reddit, Google Trends, TechCrunch, and VentureBeat. Each topic gets a viral score 1–10 from Claude. One click to start — or add your own.

Auto-fetched daily · 9 AM PKT
02

Deep Research

Tavily searches 8+ sources with advanced depth. Claude extracts key facts, stats, quotes, named entities, and article URLs — structured and ready for scriptwriting. No copy-paste, no tab switching.

Tavily + Claude Sonnet · ~45 seconds
03

Generate HeyGen-Safe Script

Claude writes a complete 60-second script with 8–10 scenes, emphasis words, and per-scene visual intent. A safety layer then rewrites any phrasing HeyGen's moderation would reject — negative company framing, harsh emotional language, harmful claims — before you even see it.

2-step chain: generation → safety rewrite
04

Upload Avatar MP4

Copy the script → paste into HeyGen Studio → download your avatar MP4. Upload it back to the dashboard and everything else runs automatically: FFmpeg extracts audio, WhisperX aligns word-level captions, scenes get timed to the real recording, and stock visuals are discovered per scene.

Only manual step in the pipeline
05

Download Finished Video

Toggle Remotion mode ON — the pipeline auto-assembles: animated word-level captions with yellow emphasis, Ken Burns on visuals, whip-pan/glitch transitions, and ambient avatar audio throughout. Final MP4 is ready in minutes. Toggle OFF for a manual ZIP + Filmora assembly guide instead.

🔥

Viral Topic Scanner

Five sources aggregated daily — HackerNews, Reddit (r/singularity, r/artificial, r/technology), Google Trends, TechCrunch, VentureBeat. Claude assigns viral scores and one-line reasons. Add your own topic in seconds.

🧠

Deep Research Agent

LangGraph + Tavily advanced search extracts key facts, statistics with context, direct quotes, named entities, and source article URLs — all structured into a Research object, ready to feed the script agent.

🛡️

HeyGen Safety Layer

A dedicated Claude pass rewrites negative company framing, harsh emotional language ("furious", "disaster"), and harmful financial claims — before HeyGen's moderation can reject your script. Fully transparent: see exactly what changed.

🎬

Visual Discovery

Per-scene asset matching: Pexels portrait clips, Pixabay backup, YouTube CC-licensed clips (download only on select), and highlighted article screenshots via Playwright + OCR. Auto-selects in hands-off mode.

📝

Word-Level Captions

WhisperX aligns transcription to the actual avatar recording — word by word. Emphasis words from the script get yellow highlight treatment. Scene timings are updated to match the real MP4, not estimates.

🚀

Remotion Auto-Render

Full 1080×1920 MP4 assembled programmatically: Ken Burns zoom/pan on visuals, animated caption pop-ins, whip-pan/glitch/crossfade transitions, Day badge, and uninterrupted avatar audio. Or export a Filmora ZIP as fallback.

Before vs After

What used to take an entire day now takes under 20 minutes

❌ Without ReelForge
  • 😩 Manually scroll Twitter, Reddit, and HN for 30–60 min to find a topic worth covering
  • 😩 Open 10+ tabs, read full articles, take notes — another hour gone
  • 😩 Write the script yourself, guess what HeyGen will or won't accept, get rejected and rewrite
  • 😩 Hunt for stock clips one by one on Pexels, download, rename, sort by scene
  • 😩 Upload avatar MP4 to a caption tool, manually fix timing errors word by word
  • 😩 Spend 2–3 hours in Filmora assembling everything and syncing captions
  • 🕐 Total: 5–7 hours per video

FAQ

Common questions about ReelForge

Yes — ReelForge generates a script that is guaranteed safe for HeyGen's moderation system, but you still record the avatar in HeyGen Studio yourself. This is the only manual step. You copy the script, paste it into HeyGen, download the MP4, and upload it back. Everything else is automated.
HeyGen's AI moderation rejects scripts that contain negative framing about named companies, harsh emotional language ("furious", "disaster", "joke"), or specific harmful financial claims. ReelForge runs a dedicated safety-rewrite pass using Claude that catches and neutralises all of these patterns before you ever see the script — so your script never gets rejected.
Remotion is a framework that renders videos programmatically using React. When you toggle Remotion mode ON, ReelForge assembles the final 1080×1920 MP4 automatically — Ken Burns zoom and pan on visuals, animated word-level captions with yellow emphasis highlights, whip-pan and glitch transitions between scenes, and your avatar audio playing continuously. No editing software required. Toggle it OFF and you get a ZIP package with an ASSEMBLY_GUIDE.md for manual assembly in Filmora instead.
ReelForge itself is free. You do need API keys for the services it uses — Anthropic (Claude) costs roughly $0.10 per video, Tavily has a free tier of 1000 searches per month, Pexels and Pixabay are free, and YouTube Data API has a free 10,000 units per day quota. All of these are either free or very low cost for personal use.
ReelForge is built for AI and tech news Shorts — the kind of content that performs well on YouTube Shorts when delivered in a fast, punchy, avatar-led format. It auto-fetches from HackerNews, Reddit, Google Trends, TechCrunch and VentureBeat. You can also add your own topic manually with a URL and it will research and script it the same way.
Not yet. ReelForge generates the video title, description, and tags automatically and shows them on the dashboard for you to copy. Uploading to YouTube is still a manual step — you download the finished MP4 and upload it yourself. Auto-publishing is on the roadmap.
